About Us

Rose City Working Dog Association (RCWDA) is a private non-profit club whose membership is committed to train dogs in the sport of Schutzhund, and to support activities and educational programs that demonstrate the advantages of well trained dogs as well as excellence in dog training. Dog breeds of all types are accepted and encouraged to participate in our club's activities. Schutzhund is intended to demonstrate the intelligence and utility of dogs. In working trial, Schutzhund measures the dog's characteristics which include: mental stability, endurance, structural efficiencies, ability to scent, willingness to work, and show courage and trainability. This club's objective is to work towards building these characteristics in our members' dogs. Our club strives to:
  1. Support and organize trials, breed surveys, or confirmation shows.
  2. Promote humane training methods for all working dogs, and support responsible dog ownership and breeding practices.
  3. Support the use of dogs by Law Enforcement Agencies, and promote the use of Breed Standards.
  4. Promote working dogs for the sport of Schutzhund, police work, and search and rescue.
  5. Encourage the enjoyment of training for the Schutzhund sport, and take pleasure in the fruit of such labor, a wonderful, happy, well-behaved companion.
  6. All dog's are evaluated to determine if drive and temperament are suitable for the sport of Schutzhund before allowed to participate.
